General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsIt is with much sadness to report that long time DUer Xchrom has passed.
Xchrom passed May 1, 2015 in Durham, North Carolina, he was 61. He was a frequent poster in this forum and many others and spent a lot of time in Stock market Watch in the Economy Group. He was very smart, had a quick wit and a good sense of humor. He like to cook and enjoyed a really good beer especially India Pale ales. Rest in peace my friend.

Looking for his threads got me thru so many many dragging late-night shifts or crack of dawn duties over all these years, I've sometimes felt as tho he was posting them just for me to read, to get me moving, giving me something to think about and analyze during my mindless job. I'm so sorry now that I never got a chance to really know him.

(21,002 posts)Self is everywhere, shining forth from all beings,
vaster than the vast, subtler than the most subtle,
unreachable, yet nearer than breath, than heartbeat.
Eye cannot see it, ear cannot hear it nor tongue
utter it, only in deep absorption can the mind,
grown pure and silent, merge with the formless truth.
He who finds it is free, he has found himself,
he has solved the great riddle; his heart is forever at peace.
Whole, he enters into the Whole. His personal self
returns to its radiant, intimate, deathless source.
As rivers lose name and form when they disappear
into the sea, the sage leaves behind all traces
when he disappears into the light. Perceiving the truth,
he becomes the truth; he passes beyond all suffering,
beyond death; all the knots of his heart are loosed.

(83,909 posts)He was here pretty much from the beginning. He was a Religion host with me for a while. We interacted occasionally and he seemed like a nice guy. This is tragic news for DU. Another tough loss.

we were fellow Episcopalians, and felt very much alike on the issues facing the church.

(3,310 posts)Right after my partner passed, XChrom invited me to meet him at a friend of his in Raleigh. They were all widowed; they were so kind to me at a time I was really, really lost.
XChrom was as gentle and lovely in person as he was on the web.
This is so very, very sad.

(34,657 posts)this is who gets the gate? Death is one tacky little shit.
Xchrom was always smart, witty and a gentleman who put up with flagrant flirting with great aplomb. A poster most handsome in his daily demeanor. This is an enormous loss, as his contributions were wide-ranging and reliable.
Rest in peace.
